Getting started

Subterra is a mining game. You dig ore in a shared mine, forge that ore into miners, and your miners earn SUBT and real crypto (Litecoin, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin) every minute in a pool. Here is the fastest way in:

  1. Get your free miner. The starter quest on the Dashboard asks you to swing 25 times in the Mine, claim the Faucet or Quick Faucet 5 times, win 5 mini-games and watch 3 ads. Finish it and a free Copper Miner is placed and running for you, automatically.
  2. Join a pool on the Pools page: SUBT, LTC, SOL, XRP or DOGE. Your miners only earn while you are in one.
  3. Dig in the Mine for ore, then craft more miners in the Forge.
  4. Collect free SUBT along the way: the Faucet, mini-games, ads, quests and your daily streak.
  5. Come back at least every two days so your miners keep their energy, and withdraw your crypto from the Wallet whenever you like.

SUBT and crypto

SUBT is the in-game currency. You earn it almost everywhere and spend it on pickaxes, bombs, room slots, crafting and the marketplace. Its site value is fixed: 10,000 SUBT = $1.

LTC, SOL, XRP and DOGE are real crypto. Your miners earn them in the matching pool, and they are what you withdraw. You can also turn crypto into SUBT on the Exchange page (one-way, no fee, at the site rate).

The Mine and ores

Size
250 × 250 tiles, shared by every player
Reset
A fresh mine every 30 minutes
No pickaxe?
Your hand digs 1–2 tiles per swing
Swings per mine
10, or more with Mine Boosts
What you find
Ore, buried pickaxes and one Arcade Lootbox
  • Each swing opens a hole the size of your pickaxe's power and uses one point of its durability.
  • You get 10 swings in each mine. A Mine Boost (5,000 SUBT, button above the mine) adds 5 more in every mine for 24 hours. Up to 4 can run at once, each with its own timer, so at most 30.
  • Ore you uncover is collected automatically, straight into your inventory.
  • Buried pickaxes are collected automatically while you hold fewer than 3; past that, click one to claim it.
  • Every mine also buries one Arcade Lootbox, somewhere within 20 tiles of the centre. Whoever uncovers it gets it, and the bar above the mine shows whether it's still down there.
  • Ore is spread evenly through the rock; there are no deeper, richer layers.

Ores

Twenty ores in five tiers. The higher the tier, the rarer it is. The minimum price is the lowest a unit can be listed for on the marketplace.

Pickaxes and bombs

New players start with a Wooden Pickaxe. Better ones are in the Shop, found buried in the mine, or bought from other players. Power is the radius of the hole each swing opens and durability is how many swings it lasts. You can hold up to 3 pickaxes; a pickaxe you list on the marketplace keeps its slot until it sells.

Miners and the Forge

Miners produce hashrate (H/s), and hashrate is what earns in a pool. Build them in the Forge:

  • Craft: burn the ores in a miner's recipe. Tier 2 and up also cost SUBT.
  • Fuse: combine two identical miners into one a level higher with 2.5× the hashrate: up to level IV for tier 1–3 miners, level III for tier 4–5. Fusing costs SUBT and some ore, and level IV costs the most; the Forge shows the exact price.
  • Scrap: break down a miner you can't use for half the ore and a tenth of the SUBT that went into it.

Mining Room and energy

A miner only earns while it is placed in your Mining Room on the Dashboard. Click an empty slot to place one.

Room 1
10 slots, free
Rooms 2–5
10 slots each, bought one at a time: 5,000 / 10,000 / 25,000 / 50,000 SUBT per slot
Energy
48 hours per charge, shared by all your miners
Recharging
Free: every visit tops it back up, or tap Recharge on the Dashboard

If you don't visit for 48 hours your miners stop until you come back. You get a notification when they run dry. While nothing is placed, the energy clock is paused.

Pools

All your placed miners mine one pool at a time: SUBT, LTC, SOL, XRP or DOGE. Every minute, each pool's reward is split between everyone in it by hashrate, so your share is your hashrate divided by the pool's total. You can switch pools once an hour.

Pool rewards are set by Subterra and change from time to time; the Pools page shows each pool's current reward and any recent change.

Block Hunter pools

A Block Hunter pool doesn't split its block: every 30 minutes (at :00 and :30 UTC) one hunter wins the whole block. Your chance is your hashrate averaged over the 30 minutes, divided by the pool's, so joining late or running out of battery lowers it. The pool's base hashrate is in the draw too, and when it wins nobody gets that block. Joining and switching work like any pool (once an hour), and if you leave mid-round the minutes you already mined still count. The page shows recent winners and who is hunting.

The Machine

The Machine turns what you don't need into something useful:

  • Refine: any mix of ores from one tier into random ores of the tier above. One batch costs 10 (tier 1), 15 (tier 2), 20 (tier 3) or 25 (tier 4) ores, and each batch rolls its own result. To get one particular ore instead, choose it: that costs half as much again, 15, 23, 30 or 38 ores a batch.
  • Swap: two ores of a tier for one random ore of the same tier, never one of the ores you put in. Good for turning duplicates into the ore a recipe still needs.
  • Burn: a pickaxe at 10% durability or less is scrap; burn it for SUBT. The free starter pickaxe has no scrap value.

Free ways to earn

You never need to deposit to play. Free SUBT comes from:

Faucet
10 SUBT every 30 minutes, +0.2% per level
Quick Faucet
3 SUBT every 5 minutes, up to 50 times a day, on its own page
Mini-games
2–4 SUBT per win, up to 25 wins per game per day
Ads
SUBT for viewing each ad, once a day per ad
  • Faucet and Quick Faucet: two faucets on their own timers, each behind a quick captcha. The Quick Faucet page shows ads while you're on it.
  • Mini-games on the Earn page: Reflex Tap, Ore Match and Quick Math. Every 5 wins in a game it gets harder and pays more, from 2 up to 4 SUBT a win, and an occasional captcha keeps bots out.
  • Offerwalls on the Earn page: surveys, apps and tasks from partner networks, credited in SUBT.
  • Ads: view a site for its timer and claim SUBT. You can also buy your own ad campaign with SUBT to advertise a site.
  • Quests: six daily jobs (swing in the mine, watch ads, win mini-games) worth 10 to 100 SUBT each.
  • Daily streak on the Dashboard: claim once a day for 5 SUBT per streak day (up to 50 SUBT from day 10), plus XP, and a 50 SUBT bonus every 7th day. Miss one day and your weekly streak freeze covers it.

Mines

Mines, on the Earn page, is an optional SUBT game: bet 10 to 1,000 SUBT, reveal tiles without hitting a mine, and cash out whenever you like; each safe tile raises the payout. It returns 98% on average, so over time it costs more than it pays. Rounds left idle for over an hour are cashed out automatically. Mines winnings don't count toward the Earnings race. Play it for fun, never with SUBT you need.

Marketplace and shops

Marketplace

Buy and sell ores, pickaxes, lootboxes and miners with other players on the Marketplace, priced in SUBT or crypto. Fees: 5% on SUBT sales, 10% on crypto sales. A price history tab shows recent sales, and ores have a minimum price per tier (see the ore table above).

Miners can be sold from your inventory (take one out of its room first). Each has a minimum price of about half what went into it: its ore at the minimum ore prices plus half its SUBT fees, fusions included. The sell form shows what it took to make at recent prices as a suggested price. A listed miner can't be placed, fused or scrapped until it sells or you take it down, and the free starter miner can't be sold.

The Foreman: every day (new orders at 00:00 UTC) the mine posts three buy orders above the marketplace, one each for a tier 1, 2 and 3 ore that the market has too much of. He pays what that ore has sold for over the last 14 days (never under its minimum price), for a fixed amount, and each player can fill up to a fifth of an order. You need to be level 3 with an account at least 3 days old. The ore he buys leaves the game, which keeps prices from sliding.

Ore in lots: on the Sell tab, choose Split into lots to list up to 100 identical lots in one go (say 20 lots of 1 copper), so buyers can take one at a time. The price you set is per lot, and the minimum applies to each lot. Identical lots show as one line with how many are left, and under My Listings you can reprice or take down the whole group at once. Each player can have up to 500 listings up at a time.

Shop and Season Shop

The Shop sells pickaxes and bombs. The Season Shop changes every season (about 30 days): each season brings its own limited miners and pickaxe, sold for SUBT with a limit per player, and packs bought in dollars through FaucetPay or with any crypto through OxaPay. Season items are sold during their season only and you keep them forever.

  • Season 1, Emberfall: Ember Spark (7,000 H/s, 5,000 SUBT, up to 5), Ember Rig (50,000 H/s, 42,000 SUBT, up to 3) and Ember Pickaxe (power 5, 300 durability, 40,000 SUBT, up to 2).
  • Season miners need no ore, can't be crafted, and fuse up to level III for a SUBT fee only.
  • Season lootboxes (Ember Cache 10,000, Emberfall Chest 40,000, Inferno Vault 150,000 SUBT) hold SUBT, ore and season items, and are the only place to find the Cinderheart Pickaxe (power 6, 400 durability). Like every lootbox they list their odds and return a bit less than their price on average.
  • Packs (Spark $2, Miner $5, Cache $5, Digger $5, Supporter $15, Inferno $25) are worth 17–30% more than a plain deposit of the same amount, so no deposit bonus is added on top. Every pack unlocks the Supporter badge. If a payment comes up short, it's credited as a normal deposit instead.

Lootboxes

The Shop's Lootboxes tab sells lootboxes for SUBT: ore lootboxes (Rubble, Deep Vein, Core), miner lootboxes (Workshop, Foundry, and the Excavator for tier 3 to 5 miners), the Prospector's Lootbox, which holds either, and SUBT lootboxes (Coin, Treasure, Vault) that pay straight to your balance, up to 10 times their price. Every lootbox lists exactly what can be inside and the odds. They go to your Inventory, where you open them, and can be sold on the marketplace. They're a gamble: on average a lootbox is worth a little less than its price, but any of them can land a big one.

The Arcade Lootbox (SUBT or ore inside) isn't sold: one is buried near the centre of every mine, and a won mini-game has a 1% chance to drop one.

Inventory

Your Inventory holds everything you own: pickaxes (with their durability), bombs, ores and miners. Worn-out pickaxes have a button straight to the Machine.

Levels, XP and badges

  • XP comes from playing: swinging in the mine, winning mini-games, offers, your daily streak and more.
  • Levels: level 2 needs 100 XP and each level after needs 10% more than the last.
  • Level bonuses: +0.2% on faucet claims and +0.1% on FaucetPay withdrawals for every level above 1.
  • Badges are earned automatically (checked every few minutes) and shown on your profile, grouped by category.

Weekly races and events

Two races run every week on the Race page. They reset and pay their top 10 in SUBT every Monday at 00:00 UTC, straight into your balance, with a notification.

FAQ

My miners aren't earning.

Check three things: they are placed in your Mining Room, their energy isn't empty, and you have joined a pool.

How do I get crypto out?

Mine in the LTC, SOL, XRP or DOGE pool, then withdraw that balance from the Wallet: to FaucetPay from about $0.02, or straight to your own wallet from $1.

Why does it say "Ad blocker detected"?

Ads fund the rewards. Turn your ad blocker off for subterra.run and reload.
